Unused Character Concepts & Designs

Like any good writer, my notebook is filled with stories yet to be finished, half-baked ideas, and thoughts best left for another day. One of these stories, in particular, has gone through many thoughts and looks.

Taking a Second Look. And a Third. And a Fourth. And...

This story was in active development five years ago and about a third of it was completed. The illustrator was fantastic, with a great sense of design and very detailed. However, it wasn't meant to be, so I put the book on hold.

During this holding period, I took advantage of the opportunity to try different looks and concepts for the book's main characters. One of those concepts is below. It's a very digital, 3D looking design. Interesting. Solid. Animation-like. In the end, however, it just wasn't what I wanted.
